Shipping Policy |
At this time, we offer shipping to the United States only, including Alaska and Hawaii. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer international shipping. Rates: we wish we could ship for free to all of you! We are dahlia tuber customers too and share our community’s frustrations regarding the high price of shipping these days. However, in order to stay viable as a small, family owned business, we also need to ensure that we don’t lose money on shipping. We try our best to balance providing you with a high quality, efficient, safe shipping process with keeping our costs as low as possible. For our 2026 dahlia tuber sale, we will use USPS Priority Flat Rate shipping for all orders. Shipping costs are as follows:
Tubers will be shipped from our location in the PNW in early to mid April once freezing temperatures are no longer in our forecast. Tubers will be packaged in plastic bags surrounded by vermiculite because this is the method we have found offers the best insulation and quality control. Note: for some tubers, we may choose to wrap the tuber neck in tape for added stability. This will not affect the tuber’s growth potential or health at all. Please plant the tuber with the tape intact and do not attempt to remove it. We will offer the option to purchase a heat pack with your order if you are concerned about freezing temperatures in your region in early to mid April. You may purchase a heat pack on our website any time prior to March 31st, 2026
Early Shipping: we will offer early shipping in March for those customers who would prefer to receive their tubers earlier in the year. To ensure shipping in March, you must select the $25 "early March shipping" option at checkout. If you do not select this option at the time of checkout, you must email us to request it at hello@bayviewflowerfarm.com. All March shipments will include a heat pack. Purchase at your own risk. We will do our best to ensure the tubers stay safe during transit but cannot be held responsible for delays/mishandling that occurs after your package leaves our facility.
Local Pick Up: local pick up will be available at Saint Bread in Seattle (1421 NE Boat Street, Seattle, WA 98105) on Saturday, 4/11/26 from 8a-10a. We're sorry, but we are unable to offer alternative dates/times for pick up. If you do not pick up your order at the designated time, we will contact you once via email to arrange shipping. If you do not respond, we reserve the right to cancel your order. |
|
Shipping Issues |
Once your package leaves our facility and you receive a shipping confirmation email, we are not responsible for any delays or missing packages. Additionally, we pack your tubers with great care but are unable to control how they are handled after they leave us. As such, we are not responsible for any mishandling once they leave our facility. |
|
Combining Orders |
We are happy to be able to offer free combined shipping to our customers this year! Simply select the combined shipping option at checkout. If you have any questions about this or want to double check that your orders have been combined, please contact us using the website contact form. |
|
Refund Policy |
We are unable to offer refunds due to carrier-related issues with mishandling, lost, stolen, or delayed packages. All packages are insured and if you have a concern, please reach out to USPS directly to begin the claims process. The claims process is the customer’s responsibility and we are unable to initiate it on your behalf or assist. We have a 3-day grace period for returns. It is the customer’s responsibility to unpack your package promptly and inspect all tubers carefully upon arrival. If you have concerns, please notify us using our contact form within the 3-day grace period and prior to placing tubers in the ground. Please send photos so we can help solve any issues! Bay View Flower Farm, LLC is not required to issue a refund, and we are not liable for any monetary value beyond the cost of the tubers. After our 3-day grace period, we are unable to offer refunds and are not responsible for tuber failure due to improper storage, pest damage, weather, growing conditions, plant performance, negligence, failure to thrive, viruses, acts of God, shriveling, rot, mold, or other circumstances beyond our control. |
|
Cancellations |
We guarantee that our inventory count will be accurate at the time of our sale. However, while unlikely, it is possible that tuber failure could occur after the sale, resulting in our inability to fulfill your order. If that happens, we will notify you and immediately issue you a refund. We will issue order cancellations within 1 week of purchase subject to our discretion. However, please note that all cancelled orders are subject to a 20% restocking fee. |

Size and Tuber Condition |
There is no wrong way to have a body! This was one of Lauren's favorite sayings to patients when working as a pediatric nurse practitioner because all bodies are truly beautiful and miraculous. How boring life would be if we were all the same! In order to grow, dahlia tubers need to contain a body, neck, and part of the crown with an eye. Beyond that, size doesn’t really matter and a small, healthy tuber will grow just as beautiful of a dahlia plant as a large one. All that said, we recognize that purchasing dahlia tubers can be a costly endeavor, and that customers may enter the tuber buying process with some expectations regarding the size of tubers they receive. Therefore, we do offer a size guarantee. Will will not send you any tubers that are either smaller than a standard US quarter coin or with a body circumference that is skinnier than a pencil at their widest point. Please be aware of this policy before you buy from us as we will not refund orders due to disappointment with tuber size. Due to wet conditions over the 2025 growing season, some of our tubers may have lenticels. These are small bumps on the outside skin of the tuber and do not affect the health or viability of the tuber. If you have questions or concerns about the appearance of your tuber, please contact us and send photos so we can help. |
|
Virus Policy |
We take great pride in the health of our plants. We source our tubers only from small growers we trust, and frequently survey our plants for signs of virus or disease during the growing season. Any plants suspected of disease are immediately culled. Additionally, we sanitize clippers between cuts during the growing season, and between clumps during tuber division. Our fields are not open to visitors for harvesting. All that said, please know that dormant virus can sometimes be present in even healthy-appearing plants and, because we do not test all our plants at this time, we cannot guarantee with absolute certainty that our plants are virus free. According to the American Dahlia Society, up to 87% of dahlias may carry some form of virus! By purchasing from our farm, you acknowledge this risk. Bay View Flower Farm, LLC is not responsible for any plants grown from our tubers that display signs of virus after purchase, especially because there are many factors beyond initial tuber health that can contribute to virus development. |

Shopping Cart |
Folks familiar with the “dahlia wars” know that some coveted varieties may sell out quickly once the sale opens. We are a small farm and we love to grow many different and beautiful types of dahlia, therefore tuber quantities will be limited for some varieties. Please note that items in your cart are not guaranteed until you successfully check out and receive an order confirmation number. We do not accommodate cart holds. As buyers ourselves, we are very familiar with the frustration of losing out on tubers due to them “disappearing” from your cart. We see you dahlia lovers, and we hear your frustration!! There is nothing sadder than making and perfecting your wish list…and then not being able to purchase the tubers you wanted. Sometimes there is just no way to avoid it, but it can help speed up the process to log in to your Shop Pay account and ensure your shipping address and credit card information is accurate prior to the sale. Please note that Shop Pay may prompt you to enter a code sent to your phone/email prior to check out, so by using this payment method you acknowledge this possibility. If there is a variety you really want, it may be worth checking out after adding that one variety to your cart, then going back in and placing a separate order for any additional items you’d like to purchase. |
|
Payment |
We accept most major credit cards and Shop Pay. |
|
Limits |
We reserve the right to place household limits on some coveted varieties of dahlias for which we have limited stock. We do this to ensure as many folks as possible get to experience their beauty! Thank you for respecting these limits and please know that we reserve the right to cancel your order if you purchase additional quantities beyond the limit. |
|
Substitutions |
We are unable to offer substitutions. If we need to cancel your order for any reason, you will be immediately refunded the cost. |
|
Mislabels |
We employ a “swiss cheese” model (pulled from Lauren's health care leadership days) when it comes to preventing mislabels - that is, we have a multi-step system in place for checks and double checks throughout the planting and growing season to prevent errors. Steps we take are outlined below:
All that said, despite the care we take, we grow 1000+ dahlia plants each season and can’t 100% guarantee that mislabels won’t happen. If you believe one of our tubers was a mislabel, please contact us and send pictures by July 31st. Bay View Flower Farm, LLC is not required to issue a refund, and we are not liable for any monetary value beyond the cost of the tubers, but your happiness is important to us and we will do our best to address any concerns. |
|
Limits of Liability |
Buyers assume all risk when purchasing tubers from Bay View Flower Farm, LLC. Please refer to our policies listed in the various sections. Refunds will not be issued after our 3-day grace period with exceptions made for possible mislabels, as mentioned above. |
|
Trademarked Varieties |
Bay View Flower Farm, LLC is a licensed seller of KA variety dahlias. This means that we send a portion of every purchase back to the hybridizer, Kristine Albrecht of Santa Cruz Dahlias, to compensate her for the years of hard work that goes into developing her gorgeous dahlia varieties. Please review the information below regarding the limitations of what you can do with a licensed KA tuber that you purchase from us:
Please reach out directly to Kristine here with questions or concerns and/or to become a licensed seller |
|
Social Media Policy |
Social media! Oh my goodness, what a gift it is while also presenting some unique challenges. While we can appreciate the instinct to post concerns and complaints to social media - it makes sense that folks might want to gauge if their concern is reasonable or see if others have experienced the same thing - we have also seen serious undeserved damage done to seller’s reputations through these kinds of posts. We will always do our best to offer you a quality product and treat you with respect and kindness, and we ask that you please do the same for us. If you have any questions about your order or your experience buying from us, please reach out to us directly first and allow us the opportunity to respond to and address your concerns, before posting to social media. Your satisfaction is important to us! |
|
Inappropriate Conduct |
Dahlia tuber sales and the ordering process can be intense and prompt feelings of sadness, frustration, anger, or disappointment. We can certainly empathize with these feelings! That said, we reserve the right to refuse service to and/or cancel orders from any customer who uses threats, demeaning language, verbal abuse, harassment, or profane language directed towards us personally or our business either directly in emailed communication or indirectly on social media platforms. We also reserve the right to cancel all orders from customers we suspect are using bots to place an order, in order to keep the buying process fair for all involved. We are all just doing our best and we thank you for your understanding, grace, and patience! |
